Now that we have the food card system, we want to use it like a card to access money. We don’t want this card to be only for food; we want it to work for money, too. Sometimes, it might be easier to pay with this card.
Also, we want people to recognise us as refugees. By using this ID card, we could gain more opportunities, such as being allowed to leave the camp. For example, if we leave through the gate and the police see this ID card, they will know right away that we are from Mae La camp. Even if we can’t go far, just give us a small opportunity to visit places near Mae La.
I want to be recognised everywhere. If people recognise us as campers, it would be better than being recognised only as people who came from Myanmar, because we live here in Thailand.
